Can a Stab-Proof Vest Stop a Bullet?
Can a Stab-Proof Vest Stop a Bullet?
Stab-proof vests are primarily designed to protect against sharp objects, such as knives and blades, by using layers of strong materials like Kevlar. However, these vests are not specifically made to stop bullets. The ballistic threat posed by firearms is significantly greater than that of knives, requiring specialized ballistic vests that are engineered to absorb the impact and energy of a bullet.
Differences in Protection
While some stab-proof vests might offer minimal protection against low-caliber rounds, they are not reliable against higher caliber bullets. The design and materials used in stab-proof vests lack the necessary density and construction to effectively halt a bullet’s force. Conversely, ballistic vests, which are rated according to specific levels of protection, are constructed with thicker layers and different materials to address the impact of bullets.
